Dear valued human,
There are laws that govern promotion.
My aim with this letter is to help you shift perspective. From my experience I have proven that perspective is everything, trust me on this, more than anything this statement is the most defining thing that will determine how far you will go in any area of your life.
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, it defines ‘perspective’ as:
The capacity to view things in their true relations.
Let’s break this down, shall we…
A person's capacity is dependent on how deep you can go into a subject, situation, idea etc. The bigger the capacity the less shallow/surface level the thinking, and therefore deeper the understanding.
The connection between two or more things or parts as belonging or working together.
So your capacity is really your ability to think deeper into a topic to see how things correlate (are related).
Fortunately or unfortunately, your perspective on a situation is very much determined by who has either helped or burdened your thinking, and looking at society, the chances are most people we associate with do not have the capacity for deep thought, meaning they lack the truth in understanding what the situations and circumstances we face mean. We are all going through something either personally or professionally, and if not, you will, that is life!
Anyway, getting on with the message…
My aim is to help you shift your way of thinking, in whatever way is right for you.
The fundamental question is: What do you want for your life?
It's ok either way, no-one is forcing you to want promotions and you won't be judged if you want simplicity, there really is no right or wrong, some are just built a certain way for success in their careers, it is not for everyone.
A question: do you know how they test to see if gold is real or fake?
They put the metal through an acid test, they put it through the fire.
The same is true with you. If you really want to see who you really are, at the depth of your being, you will need to, at some point in your life, go through a fire (metaphorical)!
As a business owner, and one with this philosophy for life, I have set out from day one to constantly go through fires. There are many of you who, on our business journey, have been through fires, I know and you know those fires and what they have done to you.
Realisation: you cannot get to another level in life without becoming more, and the ways of becoming are determined by the amount of, and the sizes of, the fires you go through.
That being said, do you know how we will succeed?
By getting to love fires. I do, I fucking love fires, massive ones! It is in my DNA and my experience has helped me know what to do when confronted by one, I come to life when they appear, I have spent so much time in fires that I now seek them out!
There will be many fires along our journey, so, when it is your turn to have the honour (because that is what it is) of facing a fire, what will you do?
Complain and moan? Or face it and truly own your personal development. What I am asking you to do is to get your head down, work hard, work on the situation and, most importantly, work on yourself to get through it. No solid business, no successful entrepreneur, no senior executive is where they are without going through fires (and many)!
Then, once you've been through a fire or two and you've had your perception shifted, you start to sort out others that have been through fires, and you get intrigued about other people's fires. How big? How long did it take to go through? Essentially, what you are sorting for is the character, the depth, the capacity of the individual, as you will gain the understanding that you won't achieve any type of success without going through a fire!
Go through the fire and you will find gold, and the biggest gold is not what we get in life but who we become.
